BAND HISTORY
In the early 1970’s a group of guys started playing Bluegrass music at the Texaco gas station on Isle of Palms, SC. Soon they were playing private parties, clubs and even traveling to festivals. Most of the early years, the band played Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island, Mount Pleasant, and the Charleston area.

The original name of the group was “The Homeboy Discount Bluegrass Band”. The name discount came from me Gene White for giving discounts for purchases at his gas station for locals. Sometime later, Pete Rock declared one day that it was a good name for the band and it stuck.

The first band members were Pete Rock, Doug Rock, Bill Kindell, Gene White and Kenny Barnes.

The Discount Band stayed together until 2004, although many members came and went over the years.

IN 2005 Gene started assembling some pickers, and when Pete became available it occurred to him that they were still the Homeboys, although the word Reunion was now more fitting.
